Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP Announces Complimentary Community Association Board Member Education Certification

Ellis_JonathonBoth Florida Statutes Chapters 718 and 720 require newly elected condominium and homeowners’ association board members to read their association’s governing documents and certify in writing that they will fulfill the obligations of their office. In lieu of such certification, new board members may complete an education curriculum administered by a division-approved education provider within 90 days of their election. As a property manager or board member, you want to make sure your board fully complies with the applicable Florida statute, and we believe that new board member education certification is critical to any new board member’s success. Accordingly, Shumaker is pleased to offer new board member education certification free of charge to your association at either your location or at Shumaker’s downtown Tampa office.

Our firm is certified by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation’s Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares and Mobile Homes to administer the new board member education curriculum and to issue certifications satisfying all requirements of Chapters 718 and 720, Florida Statutes. The course includes fundamental information for community association board members, including:

  • Conducting Board and Member Meetings
  • Proper Budget and Reserve Allocation
  • Insurance Requirements and Recommendations
  • Bidding and Contractual Requirements
  • Official Records Maintenance and Access
