Jonathan J. Ellis is experienced in almost all areas of Community Association law. Jonathan represents associations from general collections and enforcement of covenants to revitalizations of convents and general corporate matters. His litigation experience ranges from foreclosure of liens, even through bankruptcy, to defending the Association’s officers and directors when sued. He has handled HUD and ADA inquiries, construction defect cases, turnover, injunction hearings, determination of covenant validity, contested elections and corporate control disputes to name just a few. Most importantly, Jonathan views the role of the attorney, as just that, the attorney. He understands the role of the board of directors, the property manager and the professionals. For an Association to run well, each needs to respect the role of the other.
Kathleen G. Reres has experience in almost all facets of community association law. She regularly represents homeowners associations, condominium associations, individual unit owners, board members and property managers. She assists her clients with every aspect of community association law from corporate governance to litigation. This includes amending, interpreting, or revitalizing governing documents, ensuring statutory compliance, providing advice or opinion letters on association legal questions, responding to requests for accommodation under the Fair Housing Act, running controversial membership meetings including elections, and drafting policies to address collection, enforcement, official records inspections, rental applications, and pet restrictions. She can help you and your association resolve your issues to avoid litigation or, if litigation is necessary, she can zealously pursue your interest. Her litigation background is invaluable when handling lien foreclosures, enforcement actions, arbitration proceedings, eviction actions, HUD complaints and complaints filed with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Clinton S. Morrell is an attorney in the firm’s litigation department, where he practices primarily in the areas of homeowners association and condominium law. He also has experience in other practice areas including personal injury and construction defect claims. Clinton received his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the Florida State University College of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Team and an Associate Justice on the Student Supreme Court. Clinton has also served as an intern to the Honorable Claudia R. Isom and the Honorable Tom Barber.
Jason W. Davis is a member of the Community Associations Practice and his experience encompasses several years of civil and administrative litigation. Prior to coming to Shumaker, Jason spent four years as Assistant Attorney General in St. Petersburg, Florida.
